Brief Answer:
May be due to vitamins, trace elements deficiencies

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

After going through your query I concluded that your friend is having muscle cramps right thumb since 2 weeks. Most common cause of muscle cramps is vitamin and trace elements deficiencies. So he can take vitamin and trace elements supplements along with calcium for nearly 2 weeks. He can get his vitamin D3 levels and take supplements for it if it is low. For pain relief he can take analgesic such as ibuprofen.

As individual cramps in single thumb is rare so I wants to know whether movements of his thumb (flexion and extension) are normal and whether there is some clicking sound during thumb movements, keeping in mind he may be having trigger thumb. How many times he got cramps in 2 weeks?

You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to me. I will be happy to help.

Wishing your friend a good health.

Take care.
