What Causes Muscle Strain During Bowel Movements With Constipation?

Question: Hi I am 70 yrs old and recently have had a problem with severe pain and a muscle getting tight, of I guess some muscle or something in my stomach when straining to have B.M. I use to have IBS/dirrahia. now I have IBS/ Constipation that turns into diarreaha., I only go about every 7-10 days and it is like rocks until about the end then it is runny, never had blood. The muscle or whatever it is gets me to where It is hard to move to another position to relieve the muscle or I guess relax it, I have to strain very hard, and have to move around a lot on the toilet to help release the B.M. at all, this process sometimes takes up to 4 days just to have 1 so called full B.MThis "muscle" or whatever it is now is also occurring just sitting and working on my P.C. I have to stand or lay in different positions to get it to stop and it is painful, what has happened to me, I do not do any lifting.
Brief Answer:
Seems like intestinal malrotation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I have read your query and it seems like intermittent malrotation of intestine, though it can just be a spasm of the muscles of the abdomen.
You need to get tested as it may cause obstruction to blood flow to the intestine, if it keeps happening.
Complete blood count and other basic blood tests are to be done. X-ray may come back normal. So I would suggest USG or even CT scan of abdomen to find any abnormal distribution of mesenteric vessels.
Thus see your doctor today and request for further tests.
Hope it helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
