What Causes Muscle Twitches And Tremors All Over Body?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Feb 2015
Question: Hi. I have been taking Zoloft 50mg for a month. I get muscle twitches and tremors all over my body (legs, arms, eye lids, even back). Is this a side effect of Zoloft? If so, will it go away with time and/or is there anything I can do to minimise symptoms?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to zoloft

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Zoloft can lead to muscle twitches and tremors in certain cases. Mostly it is self limiting and will reduce with time. Mostly the body adjusts to the symptoms, but if the symptoms persist then it would be wiser to consider switching to some other antidepressants like escitalopram or paroxetine or venlafaxine.
Sometimes, if the doses are higher then reduction of the dose may help in reducing the side-effects. But 50mg is still is a small dose and further reduction is not warranted. So it would be better to switch the medicine.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
