What Causes Nasal Bleeding?

Question: My husband has been having nose bleeds for about five or six weeks. Not heavy ones, but still nose bleeds. They stop but every time he blows his nose there is always blood on the tissue. I am concerned but he isnt and wont go to a doctor.

I am going to make some suggestions that may help.

First, let him apply the vaseline jelly to the base of the nose. The end of the inside of the nose gets dried easily in extreme cold and extreme heat. This dryness leads to bleeding sometimes. So we can stop that.

Second, give him lots of green leafy vegetables in food. Sometimes, the clotting mechanism is going bad. And addition of the green leafy vegetables helps the clotting mechanisms. So you can try it.

Third, if possible, get his blood pressure and lipid profile checked.

Fourth, when he bleeds, apply ice to the area. This will help to stop the bleeding faster. And it may be more helpful to tell him to get to a doctor while he is bleeding.

If these measures dont help, it is definitely important to get him to a ENT surgeon.

Can bleeding from the nose ever be a sign of a TIA? I am convinced my husband had a mild TIA a few years ago as he woke up disorientated and was a bit confused for a few hours. He refused point blank to go to his GP. I Have found since then he gets agitated easily and when he is looking for something it has to be got straight away. I worry that nosebleed is a symptom of a TIA?

TIA is a neurological condition. The only way a nose bleed can be related to TIA is by uncontrolled hypertension that can cause nose bleed and is a risk factor for TIA.
So no, nosebleed is not related to TIA.
