What Causes Nausea Along With Belching?

Question: I previously took Omeprozale for acid reflux for 6 to 8 years. About 2 years ago I developed nausea and severe belching. I tried 9 different prescriptions and found some relief with 40 mg Nexium and 10mg of Baclofen, but always had breakthrough symptoms. I had a scope of my stomach which my doctor said showed no problems. I have again developed constant nausea and some belching which begins every morning shortly after I get up and brush my teeth. I have stopped the Nexium because the nausea would start right after taking it. I do not have a gallbladder. The only time I do not have the nausea is when I have eaten a full meal. I've tried small, frequent, high protein meals, elevating the head of the bed, not eating in the evening, avoiding fatty foods. Is there any hope?
Brief Answer:
Add domperidone. if no relief pH studies
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through the description you have provided. You are most likely suffering from Non erosive GERD.
You need to continue Nexium. in case you have nausea with nexium. I would advise to reduce the dose of nexium to 20 mg and add a prokinetic medication like domperidone which should help you with your nausea.
In case your symptoms persist then the next step would be to get a pH study with impedance manometry to asses the reflux and the types of reflux so further treatment can be planned
Hope this helps
