What Causes Nausea Along With Pain In The Back And Rib Cage?
Question: Thank you. Began with nausea, rib cage pain and back pain 2 days ago---no vomiting/diarrhea/belching/fever etc.....On HCTZ, Zocor, Mybetric, MVI, Calcium, OTC antacid, Tylenol PM. When I'm lying down, I don't feel nauseated. I have scoliosis and do have back/rib cage pain at intervals. BM's normal.
Brief Answer:
Gallstones can be the reason.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Does the pain seems similar to rib and back pain you have from the spine?
Nausea makes the digestive tract possible source of the pain. Gallstones can be the case if the pain is more on the right side.
If the pain surrounds the abdomen and goes to the back on both sides, pancreatitis can be the reason.
If you have any frequent urinating or burning while urinating, kidney stone can be the reason.
Abdominal ultrasound and blood work (with liver and pancreas tests) should be enough at this point to rule out all mentioned issues.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
