What Causes Nausea And Lump At The Back Of The Throat?
Question: Hi. A couple months ago I went to the hospital with a friend and it was very stressful, the next day I had a large hard lump in the back of my throat. It hasn't gone away and I'm now having some nausea. What could the lump be? I'm assuming it's not cancer since it appeared overnight. . also my sex drive is way down, not sure if this is related. Thanks in advance.
Brief Answer:
Upload pictures if possible, get it checked by ENT specialist
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
If possible I would ask you to upload the pictures of it. It is difficult to comment on it, without examination.
I would also like to know few more information like is it associated with any pain? Fever?
Is there any difficulty in swallowing food?
How big it is?
I would suggest you to get it examined by ENT specialist.
Hope this helps

Dr. Naik,
Hi. There is no pain or fever, and I can swallow food with no problem. It's about the size of a nickel more or less. I uploaded pictures to my profile. It's on my right side, and you can see the top of it in the pictures. I'm concerned because I'm otherwise healthy, vegetarian...

Brief Answer:
most likely to be a small lymphoid tissue or a minor salivary gland
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I have seen the pictures.
The swelling is most likely to be a small lymphoid tissue or a minor salivary gland. The pictures are not that clear. It would be better if you see ENT specialist for direct visualisation of the swelling.
But based on the pictures I think it is nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps

Hi. Thank you for your input. Let's say it was lymphoid tissue... Do you know if the ENT would remove it, or how?
Brief Answer:
On examination one can decide
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
Good to hear from you.
I would suggest you to get it examined by an ENT surgeon and based on the examination they can help you with the management plan. As said earlier it would be difficult to comment on this without examination and direct visualization.
Hope this helps
