What Causes Nausea And Nasal Congestion While On Requip?
Read below.
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Nausea is a very common side effect of Requip and other medications of the same class. Nasal congestion is not a common side effect though, it is mentioned but as a very rare one.
Whether something could be done about it depends on what formulation do you take. If you take regular Requip what could be tried is to switch to Requip XL, the extended release formulation, which has a more even distribution of drug concentration and hence less risk of side effects when reaching peak levels. Success is not guaranteed, side effects still may happen, but less likely so should be tried.
If you already are under treatment with the XL form I am afraid not much else can be done, lowering the dose may be tried, hoping it won't worsen the restless legs symptoms.
There is also a drug of the same group used also for restless legs called rotigotine, which is in a patch form. Potentially it may cause less nausea and may be tried instead of Requip, but still while less likely the possibility of it happening exists with the patch form as well.
I remain at your disposal for other questions.
