What Causes Nausea, Lack Of Appetite, Sepsis And Severe UTI?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: My husband is 47 he took the azo test and it came back purple. He went to the doctor and she put him on ciproflaxin , but couldn't test urine due to him also taking the azo tablets. He has been on the antibiotic for 3 days now with no relief at all. His symptoms seem strange to me though from what I've read. He has lost 7 lbs in 3 days, he's very nausea sand no appetite. He is either sweating uncontrollably or he can not get warm with even 4 blankets on him. He is also very jaundice looking. Does this all seem normal for a UTI?

Brief Answer:
Sepsis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

From the symptoms you are describing and also the azo test being positive it looks like he is suffering from severe urinary tract infection which cannot be controlled by oral antibiotics. He will require injectable antibiotics
Here is what you should do

1. Please take him to the hospital immediately for a proper urine routine and a urine culture along with complete blood count and a liver function test
2. he will require treatment with injectable antibiotics like ceftriaxome
3. watch out for fall in urine output. It should be minimum of 700 ml a day
4. watch out of irrelevant talk and abnormal behaviour
5. please don't ignore this matter any further , it looks serious

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
