What Causes Nausea, Loss Of Appetite And Abdominal Pain?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, my ALT levels are 82 and my BUN/Creatinine is 7. Recently, I have not been feeling well. Nausea, loss of appetite (I lost 13 lbs in a week), abdominal pain and I go to the bathroom litterally every 3 minutes. Is the high ALT a cause for concern?

Brief Answer:
ALT 82 is not the cause of concern.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

No, ALT 82 is not a cause of concern. It is only slightly elevated. Such result can appear if you eat fatty foods, have been drinking alcohol recently, using lots of painkillers or if you have fatty liver. BUN/Creatine 7 is fine.

Where is your abdominal pain exactly located? What test have been done? Can you please attach them? Do you have any burning while urinating?

If you do urinate frequently and have lower abdominal pain, urinary tract infection can be the case.
If you have diarrhea, gastrointestinal infection seems most probable.
Nausea and loss of appetite can be also present with peptic ulcer, gallstones, pancreas issues.

I do not know what tests have been done but to get proper diagnostics you should have:
- abdominal ultrasound
- CBC (complete blood count)
- CRP
- GGTP
- AP
- amylase
- urine amylase
- urine analysis
- bilirubin level

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
