What Causes Nausea, Sweaty Palms And Soles And Lightheadedness?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, I've been experiencing nausea, hot flashes with sweaty palms and feet, lightheadedness, weakness in muscles. I've been under a lot of stress lately. I also have had two very light and short periods in the last two months. Not my normal periods. I'm 37 and I am overweight. Last year at this time I missed 3 periods and found out I had an ovarian cyst. I did have a biopsy and it was negative and a few weeks later the cyst burst. I'm fatigued most of the day but feel fine when I wake in the morning. Then I start feeling this way a few hours after waking for the remaining of the day. Could it be stress or something else?

Brief Answer:
it can be due to an infection somewhere

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic forum.
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.
Nausea, sweaty palms and soles, lightheadedness and lassitude usually indicates an infection going on somewhere in our body, rather than stress related.
The most common infection associated with such symptoms is an urinary tract infection.
I can guide you better if you give me some more information.
1)when exactly your symptoms started?is it a recent one (how many days)?
2)any other symptoms like fever, abdominal pain or discomfort, increased frequency or burning sensation on urination, head ache, throat pain etc?
3)are you having any medical illnesses like diabetes?or any regular medications?
4)any significant past medical history?
Waiting for your reply.
Meanwhile, be relaxed, take some rest, have a light diet, take enough fluids.
Thank you.

The symptoms started a week ago but I would feel this one day then feel fine the next. Then on this last Sunday felt like I had weak muscles and faint. Along with the hot flashes and slight nausea. I relaxed for awhile then got on the treadmill for 30 minutes thinking I just needed to move my muscles. So the symptoms have felt more consistent since Sunday. No I have no signs of a bladder infection. No headache or throat pain. I have been having a lot of gas in my stomach. Sometimes distended but my bowel movements etc. Are normal. No abdominal pain thoughI have not been tested for diabetes recently. The last blood work up I had last September everything was fine. I am not on any medications. I thought maybe my blood sugar was possible low because I don't have much of an appetite. I am on my period right now and wondering about hormones? I'm trying not to stress but I homeschool my 3 children and don't have time to be down :/. Thanks for any help. Could I have diabetes being 30 pounds overweight?

Brief Answer:
it need evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
HelloDear,
So the symptoms are there for only one week.there was associated fainting.and you have lassitude that increased with exertion.
All these are suggestive of an ongoing infection. This cannot be attributed to hormonal changes.
Regarding diabetes, being overweight is a risk factor but we can't be sure without a blood test.
If I was your treating doctor, even if you have no fever or other symptoms,my first considerstion will be an UTI. in such a situation, after a physical examination, I Will do a basic evaluation including a blood&urine routine examination, and RBS.
Depending on the result, this can be treated with antibiotics and other supportive measures.
You kindly see a physician for correct diagnosis and treatment.
Hope you got cleared now.
