What Causes Neck Pain In A Patient With Rheumatism In Large Joints?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: I have rheumatism in large joints ( knee, ankle, elbow) since last many years. and taking ayurvedic medicines regularly.
Since last few months i get neck pain. Earlier i think its due to long time work in computers and sitting poster in office etc. When i check with orthopedic doctor, he gave some pain killer tablet, wheat germ oil capsule & diclofenac ointment. This medicines give temporary relief only.
But when i use the ayurvedic medicines (for rheumatism) the neck pain relieves to good extent.

So what is the chance of the neck pain is also due to reeumatoid arthirites? Or the neck pain is not related to rehumatism?

The answer to your queries are as below.

1, do you have swelling in the joints?or any restriction of the movements -> sometimes little swelling in kness and mostly restiction of movements.

2. How do you feel in the mornings. Is it better or worse -> I understand this question related to joint swelling / pain. Morning its worse. After little warm up exercise it feels better and vanishes as the day continues .

3. Do you experience low bachache along with neck pain? Is it better in the sleep time and mornings? -> I face low backache very few days when sitting more time in front of computer. But it is not along with neck pain. Somedays only neck pain & some days only low backache and some days both. Low backache feels better in the morning and starts again in night time. But the neck pain is same whole day means if its less in the morning then it is less for whole day and if it pains more in morning than its same whole day.

4, you got any blood tests done for rheumatism -> Yes many years ago. Then i tried alopathic / homeopathic and finally get more relief by ayurvedic medicines.

Brief Answer:
? Arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well if you do have a history of joint swellings( intermittently), there is a possibility of an arthritis. Some of the arthritis do have an intermittent nature, where they appear for some time and go off with medications. The interval between them you will be totally normal. The neck pain can be a part of it as well. You can read it up on the net as well. It is more like Palindromic Rheumatism.

I would want to go through your blood tests to see if the inflammatory markers were raised and the autoimmune profile.

My suggestion would be, to visit your rheumatologist during the attack of the episode you have, that is whenever you get swelling in the joints. It will give a much clearer picture..

As for the ayurvedic medications, we normally dont prescribe it as the first line of drug. So i am not too sure about the relief you got.But yes i would wanna review your blood tests

Do let me know for your further queries

Brief Answer:
? Rheumatism

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well i would recommend you to do:

1. ESR
2. CRP
3. Rheumatoid FActor
4. Anti CCP antibody

If test 3 and 4 or one of the 2 is positive, there is a possibility you fit into palindromic rheumatism. But yes, it can be negative as well. In that case, your joint symptoms need to be looked into during the flares

Alfa D 3 you dont need as such. It is a form of vitamin D, but used in patients with kidney disease as they cant synthesize vitamin D. You can take the routine vitamin D 3(60 k units/month). IT will help your pains and fatigue as well

Feel free to ask me for more queries
Would be happy to help you
