Brief Answer:
low immunity-needs good diet.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having cough. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is your cough dry or wet (sputum) ?

Kindly get back to me with the details so that I am better able to help you.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be decreased immunity secondary to viral infection.

I suggest the following measures, to overcome your post viral status.

1. Oral candid gel thrice daily (local application). Avoid spicy diet.

2. Maintain hydration (plenty of fluids, fruit juices).

3. Take anti allergic medication like tab. levocet+ d (citrizine +phynylehrine) one at bed time for cough.

4. Good nutritious diet.

In case of persistence, needs to be evaluated with ent surgeon to rule out other causes.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Many thanks. The cough is sometimes dry and sometimes slightly mucus. It is not terribly bad everyday, just now and again though it is daily occurence. My appetite is healthy, no diarheea and no noticeable weight loss (apart from daily fluctuation). No itchy rash or sore joints. Just a malaise feeling. My resting heart rate is 59 so i doubt i have a fever either. I check my nails for fungus and there is none (even though the mind plays tricks when you "think" you see something that isnt there). Finally my lymph modes are slightly swollen but not noticeable or sore. What do tou think? Thanks .

The thrush and cough persists along with general malaise. I am really concerned it could be aids progression, im never ususlly sick for this long. 4 weeks but i have improved. Yes in the past i have had unprotected sex and concerned this could be 3rd stage aids, immune defficiency. Can you advise further? I really appreciate the advice .

Brief Answer:
NO AIDS.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

One month old cough with oral thrush should be evaluated with x-ray chest, sputum for culture and sensitivity and laryngoscopy (thrush extension).

As such, third stage AIDS, involves all the organs ( continuous diarrhoea, tuberculosis, kaposis sarcoma).

In my opinion, you do not have AIDS. kindly evaluate with the above investigations. Treatment can be started as per the findings.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.

Thank you for your response. Its just i have read that progression towards aids starts with mild symptoms to severe. To sum it up; i have normal heart rate, no diahreea, good appetite, no rash or kaposus sarcoma but I do feel malaise, have mild night sweats, thrush and cough (the cough is not sore but comes and goes daily). Should Iworry?

Brief Answer:
Needs Antifungals.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Do not worry. Your symptoms are not suggestive of AIDS.

Episodic cough could be due to allergy. You may require oral anti-fungal (thrush) and anti allergic medications after evaluation.

Kindly go ahead.

All the best. Take care.
