What Causes Numbness And Mild Pain In Back Of Right Leg With Night Sweats?

Question: 2 days ago i had numbness and mild pain in back of right leg, above the knee about 2" and to the inside. I've had chills and night sweats for 2 nights, felt warm<[tylenol fixed this] and energy level is down. Today i just noticed swelling in rear of knee area and up about 4-5' from knee.
Brief Answer:
Soft tissue abcess
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question. Trying to link all of your symptoms I would be concerned that you may have an infection in your leg causing a soft tissue abcess above your knee joint. If this is the case then I would expect the swelling to be red and painful.
Treatment for an abcess is incision and drainage (minor surgery) and antibiotics. I would encourage you to see your family Dr for further assessment.
I hope this answers you question.
Best wishes

I slept good last night without the nightsweats, and swelling has subsided about half. No redness or pain, only tightness feeling. No fever, only a little flushed. MILD disorientation this AM, but feel fine other than that.
Are there any questions I can answer for You to help You better diagnose thisIs there anything I should be watching for?

Brief Answer:
Sounds like problem is resolving spontaneously
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your follow up question. It sounds as if your symptoms are improving which if the swelling was an abcess would be less likely. This is very reassuring and if they continue to improve then I wouldn't pursue any further diagnosis or treatment.
There are other possibilities such as phlebitis which is inflammation in a vein. This is more common in patients who have varicose veins. Phlebitis can improve spontaneously without treatment although an anti-inflammatory will often be beneficial and occasionally an antibiotic.
I pleased you are feeling better.
Best wishes
