Question: I started taking tycosyn 10 days ago and it keeps my heart rhythm regular so far,but I am experiencing numbness and tingling and atabbing pain in my hands, especially my left hand

Hi,

Since the symptoms are limited to the left side, it is definitely not drug induced. If I have to arrive at a diagnosis without physical examination, I would consider cervical (neck) spine related problem first. Nerves arising from the neck may get compressed (pinched) due to age related degeneration or a bulging disc leading to pain, tingling and numbness. Similar nerve compression may occur at your wrist and elbow leading to pain/numbness.

The next close possibility would be neuropathic pain.

It is less likely to be a heart related pathology, however I will invite you to have an EKG test.

In a nutshell, though it seem concerning to you; do not panic. The possibility of a sinister condition is not significant. Visit your local physician who can examine you and order for EKG along with cervical spine X-rays. If needed nerve conduction studies and battery of blood tests will help us arrive at a definitive diagnosis. I only hope you make arrangements to see the doctor soon.
