What Causes Numbness In Extremities, Depression And Brain Fog After Intercourse?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: Hi, me and my husband are having all symptoms that seem the same as Candida Overgrowth (numbness in arms/feet, tingling, depression, mood swings, heavy brain fog, etc.)... the worst part is that it gets worse every time we have an intercourse, as if it is strictly related to that.
He had/has athlete's foot for a very long time.

We have been feeling sick for over a year now (or more? But feel it stronger now). We lived in Italy and run a general blood ans stool.
We moved to the States a year ago and have no insurance at the moment. We got only tested for STDs and nothing came up.
His athlete's foot seems to be clearing up... (after all the supplements plus foot creams used) but after an intercourse he feels sick again, for the next coming 2 days...

We checked for STDs, we had a general blood and stool test. Nothing came up. I am thinking that I might have some vaginal bacteria that might keep making him sick? We tried candida, parasites, colon cleanses.... but every time we have an intercourse we feel sick again.

My husband feels it more than me. But I am definitely suffering from brain fogs, memory loss, difficulty focusing.. and lately I have numbness in my arms almost every day when I wake up (rarely during the day, fee tingling too).

I would like to run some more specific tests but have no idea where to start and would like to avoid just wasting money (no insurance!). What type of test would you suggest? We are kind of desperate... we really don't understand what is going on...

I have asked doctors before and got no answers or suggestions about having lack of vitamin D or thyroid problems...
I need to do some real testing... but I don't know where to start without wasting a lot of money without finding a solution.

All symptoms seems related to Candida Overgrowth, all of them... but it should not be related to sex. Candida Overgrowth does not seem to make people sick after each intercourse :(

Brief Answer:
Get the thyroid profile checked.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me mention that sex is an energy extensive process and both the body and mind need to be fresh for you to be able to get a proper sex. Unless thats the case, it is very likely that you feel exhausted and uncomfortable thereafter. Stress complicates matters even further. Candida overgrowth does not give such a presentation and hence I would insist you to get that out of your consideration. Unless you have a proper sex life, your hormones get messed up and that could give you rest of the symptoms.

It is meaningless to try to get tests done without knowing what to figure out. I would insist you to get a fasting blood sugar as well as the thyroid profile checked. Thyroid hormones control the metabolism and there could be problems there. I would not insist of further testing at the moment. Let me know the reports and I shall guide you accordingly.

The first thing to do is to relax, both in body and mind. Yoga and meditation should help. Try taking small but frequent meals. Spend a long time in foreplay and in arousing each other. I think that these simple steps would make a difference.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards

Dear Prof, thank you for your reply.

We have been married for 6 years, and are having these serious issues only over a year or so...
I don't think that stress has nothing to do with feeling sick the way we are right now... both of us at the same time? And especially after an intercourse?

You think we should both get tested for thyroid? We have two children. I have been tested when I was pregnant in 2013-14... I highly doubt I would all of a sudden suffer from thyroid... at the same time as my husband.... and giving us problems especially after an intercourse... but not only.

It would see to me like some sort of bacteria... I know it is hard for you to tell because it is a strange situation...

Some other doctor told me it could be post orgasmic syndrome (where my husband would be allergic to his semen...) and that is really not the case.

I seriously don't know what to do :(

Brief Answer:
Still suggest you to get the thyroid hormones checked.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Even if you had got tested earlier it would not harm getting the thyroid profiles of both of you checked once again.
I do not think it to be due to some bacteria and neither do I think allergy to semen to be the cause. If that is the issue, using condom would solve the problem for at least one of you. Rather, I think that your bodies are not rested enough to handle the exhausion. I would insist you to go carefully through my (previous) reply once again.
I still think that anxiety related to the problem is complicating the matters but that is secondary.

Think one step at a time. I am sure that the problem can be taken care of.

What type of Thyroid testing would you suggest? T3, T4, TPO, TAA, TSH... all of them?

Brief Answer:
T3, T4 and TSH only

Detailed Answer:
Thyroid profile includes T3, T4 and TSH (sometimes FT3, FT4 and TSH) and I am talking about this (not the other parameters).
