What Causes Numbness In Face And Loss Of Memory Post Gamma Knife Radiation?
If the tumor grows, you'll need microsurgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Numbness and loss of sensation in face probably are side effects of radiation or are effects of tumor growth. MRI images you uploaded don't show the cerebello-pontine angle where neuroma is located. If the tumor continued to grow after a borderline of 18 months after Radiosurgery, then probably was uncontrollable by it. Memory and vision problems are not related directly to neuroma unless there is hydrocephalus. Balance issues are related to the tumor growth and compression to adjacent brain structures. If you experience worsening of symptoms and there is imaging evidence of growing neuroma, then probably you'll need microsurgical intervention. Symptoms you experience are expected to improve generally after 6-18 months after Radiosurgery if the tumor shrinks.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Day I had Gamma was 3.7 mm new MRI shows 5mm
Describe visual disturbance.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking again. Could you be a little more specific about visual disturbance ( visual acuity, narrowing of visual field, blurred vision or not, eye redness, etc.) and which part of memory is affected ( short term or long term memory). If there is no evidence of hydrocephalus on MRI then memory and vision issues are not related to neuroma. They should be a separate problem that needs further investigation. Tumor size is increased apparently by 1 mm ( and not 1 cm). I think you should have another MRI after 6 months and if there is growing tendency then you'll need surgery. Hope this helps.
Would the history of meningitis im 2008 do this? Or could it be the herniated discs and osteophytes in neck?
Memory and vision problems due to meningitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again, memory and vision issues are more likely to be related to meningitis than neuroma and they have nothing to do with cervical herniated disc. Vitamin B1 should help improve memory issue. Hope this helps. Wishing you good health.
