Posted on Wed, 17 Sep 2014
Question: Within the couple of weeks, I've been experiencing numbness in my feet when I rest. Today, the numbness is in my feet, hand and upper arms. Not hugely numb but numbness. I have normal blood sugar (96) and am not feeling confused or lightheaded. Would you be able to help me?

Brief Answer:
Vascular cause.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Health care magic.
Iam Dr Ganesh.

1. Bilateral upper and lower limb numbness the most possible cause could be the vascular occlusion with reduced blood supply to the nerve endings. As you are a known case of vascular occlusion.

2. I this case if you are my patient i would have ask for a arterial doppler both lower and upper limbs, but initially to identify the cause a single lower limb to start with.

3. If there is the cause then rest of the limbs can be done. ( this happens in the vascular diseases, Hypertension - with atherosclerotic changes, excessive smoking and other underlying medical condition like uncontrolled diabetes - as a compilation of peripheral neuropathy)

4.If you are a diabetic apart from blood sugar - get a diabetic profile done to rule out neuropathy.

5.Correct all the underlying causes, avoid smoking if you have a habit - and let the doctor examine you and do the needful. Good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
