Brief Answer:
Rare complications encountered in one case in thousands

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear

Right heart XXXXXXX is done to see how good your heart is pumping blood and to measure the pressures in your heart and lungs.

In a right-heart XXXXXXX a special catheter called a pulmonary artery catheter is inseted to the right side of heart. The tube passes into your pulmonary artery. This is the main artery that carries blood to your lungs. It helps in observing blood flow through heart and measures the pressures inside heart and lungs.

According to text books and in theory there are dozens of complications and risks involved in right side XXXXXXX for example

1)excessive bleeding from the puncture site can happen , however this happens in less then 0.1% cases ,your platelet count and blood coagulation profile will be done before the procedure and the procedure will be done only if its normal.
Excessive bleed sounds scary but is very very rare and even if it happens there are methods to manage it.

2)partial collapse of the lung -,again sounds scary but is a rarerest of rare case scenario, unless the cardiologist is too unexperienced or you are too unlucky, personally i have assisted more then 200 cardiac caths and have not encountered even a single case with this complication

other rare complications are
Abnormal heart rhythms, such as ventricular tachycardia (fast heart rate in your lower heart chambers)- can be managed very well
Cardiac tamponade (fluid buildup around your heart that affects its ability to pump blood effectively), rarely resulting in death- pig tail catheter is inserted and patient is saved.

Infection- can be treated by broad spectrum antibiotics
Air embolism (air leaking into your heart or chest area), rarely resulting in death-if doctor is experienced chances are very rare
Blood clots at the tip of the catheter that can block blood flow

THEY ARE ALL MENTIONED COMPLICATIONS IN TEXT BOOK BUT AGAIN AS I SAY THEY ARE RARE ,VERY VERY RARE, in my 4 years of practice i have assisted more then 200 cardiac XXXXXXX cases with less then 2 or 3 patients having complications ,with zero mortality (practical experience).

I would like to give you a example of Aircrafts
can you give up flying because in a year or two there is a air plane crash.
Its true that plane cashes but this is very rare ; hundreds of plane fly every day and once in a year or two it crashes, but you cant give up flying for that one accident ...i wish you could get what i want to explain to you.

Rare things are rare, they do happen but very rarely

you have not mentioned what is your problem and why are you advised right heart XXXXXXX by doctor
kindly do mention the reason for undergoing XXXXXXX so that we can compare the pros and the cons and could give you a suggestion.

If you want any other help or explaination ,feel free to contact .
thank you
dont panic and have faith in your doctor
wish you a happy recovery
