
What Causes Numbness In The Head And Itching In The Eyes?

Question: Hi,
This is regarding my mother(age 57 years).
For past 3-4 months she is having numbess in head and itching in eyes. She has got spectacles also during this time.
This problem has increased very much and she has some burning sensation near eyes and forehead. Her blood pressure is normal.
Could you please suggest what is the problem and what is the fix?

Though she may not be having headache, still the symptoms are typical of stress related somatic symptoms.
In my opinion, she should be started on amitriptyline trial(under the guidance of a physician) and at the same time should start doing mental relaxation exercises, like meditation/yoga.If symptoms don't improve on this, a brain imaging(CT scan of head) can be done.
