What Causes Numbness, Tingling And Swelling In Right Thigh?
Question: Hi. I am experiencing numbness, tingaling and swelling in my right thigh when I stand on a hard floor for 15 minutes. It has been gradual over past 6 months getting worse recently from tingaling to feeling like hot nerve endings. It was in my right foot also yesterday. I ruptured a disk in L-5 of my back 25 years ago and frequently have back issues, especially if I sleep on my back. I moved in April and forced to move a few boxes when this started. My question is this a back issue, or could it be Diabetes? My grandfather had bad Diabetes, and my sister now has Type 2. Thank you so much. XXXX
Brief Answer:
It could be either, probably more of back pain though
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. Diabetes related neuropathy/numbness is normally bilateral and also/often involves the hands at the same time. Back pain as it gets worse will be gradual and will affect the feet especially if it is the lumbar spine that is affected as you had and injury. To easily rule out diabetes, a fasting blood glucose level can provide you that answer. I hope that this helps you, good luck. Thanks
