What Causes Obstructive Feeling In The Throat And Yeast Infection While On Prilosec And Nystatin?

Question: Hi, I am a 43 year old healthy female who has very well controlled autoimmune hypothyroidism controlled with Synthroid for the last 17 years. I am also addicted to Afrin nasal spray and have been for 10 years. In November, I started experiencing a symptom of something being stuck in my throat. I related it to sinus drainage or anxiety, but when it didnt go away, I saw my ENT. She put a scope through my nose and into my throat and said I had sinus drainage and some reflux. She gave me Flonase, Mucinex and Zantac. It came and went. The symptoms are never there in the morning or at night right before bed. The sensation never went away. After 2 weeks I stopped the Flonase and Mucinex because the drainage had improved. The zantac I continued for another 2 weeks and it did nothing so I changed myself to Prilosec and made another appointment with my doctor. I was 6 days into the Prilosec when I had my appointment and was actually feeling better. She reexamined my throat with the scope and saw reflux and yeast. She took me off of Prilosec and put me back on zantac but twice per day and added Nystatin for 10 days. The following day I felt better. I thought it was the Nystatin and never thought it could have just been the Prilosec starting to work, but as she advised, I stopped it. After 8 days on the Nystatin and Zantac symptoms came back. I have not seen my doctor again, I never attributed my symptoms going away due to the Prilosec and assumed it was the Nystatin, so when the symptoms returned I called and she didnt examine me but put me on 30 days of Nystatin and Diflucan. Now 3 days into this I am wondering if this is the right choice. I didnt get the same instant relief as I did when I did the Nystatin the same day as the Prilosec. She cant see me for another week. I have a call into her to see what she wants me to do, but here are my questions.

1. What does this sound like to you?
2. If this is yeast, is it possible for a normal healthy person to get this? I am terrified after reading online that healthy people dont get this and only people with cancer or diabetes or HIV. I know I dont have HIV but I worry about cancer or diabetes. I am not overweight. I have a CBC every 2-3 years which has always been normal. Its been probably 2 years since my last and will probably have another at my yearly check up in XXXXXXX My doctor was not concerned when she diagnosed the yeast and reflux at all, however I am paranoid that there is some underlying condition causing this. If there were an underlying condition like cancer would I have other symptoms? Thanks!

After speaking with my doctor, she informed me that I misunderstood. I do not have yeast in my throat, but she saw a small amount on the base of my tongue when she did the scope. She said that is a very normal finding in a lot of people. She said the lump in my throat is due to acid reflux. She only treated the yeast because she saw it and I had other symptoms of reflux. Does that make sense?
