What Causes Occasional Pain In Left Ribs?

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Jun 2014
Question: I have occational pain in my left ribs. It pains more when the ribs are pressed. The pain is unbearable at times and I am confused whether there is any heart problem. The TMT test was normal at that point of time almost a year back, but the pain still remains and surfaces time and again

Brief Answer:
Unrelated to heart.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. The nature of the pain you have does not match any defined symptom from the Cardiovascular system. Your TMT is also proof that your heart is not involved here. It sounds more like you have Inflammation of the joints between the ribs, or inflammation in the ribs itself.

If the pain is interfering with your way of life, the first thing to do is get x-rays of the chest and then further imaging if indicated.

Hope this helps,

Vinay
