What Causes Occasional Tears In An Infant's Left Eye?

Question: We are observing occasional tears in our baby's left eye without any reason like crying. After researching in internet, we think it could be related to tear duct and got some recommendations like massaging area between nose and eye. Please advise if this is appropriate or should we consult a local pediatrician?
Brief Answer:
Massaging is all you need to do.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through the details provided. Indeed your research is correct. Such things frequently occur in little children and are a result of blockage of the nasolacrymal duct which arises from the angle of each eye and drains in the nose. Gentle stroking from the angle of the eye downward toward the ala of the nose on each side a few times a day should eventually bring it under control. I do not see the requirement of visiting a local pediatrician unless there is purulent discharge from the eyes.
