What Causes One Sided Headaches?
Question: Hi. I started last Thursday morning with a severe headache, concentrated in the left temple area, accompanied with tender skin on the left side of my face, especially in the temple area. Friday night, I noticed a small welt just beside my left eye. Saturday, the welt turned red and is not quarter-sized. On Sunday, I found a pea-sized nodule under the skin just in front of my left ear. It has doubled in size. Last night, I noticed a small lump in my left eyebrow, which is now pea-sized as well.
The headache subsides with the Ibuprofen, although there is an occasional severe, sharp pain in the temple.
I don't recall having been bitten by anything. I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary, nor have I changed soap or washing detergent. Any clue as to what issue I may have?

Brief Answer:
Migraine likely cause
Detailed Answer:
There are two things I have in mind with relevance to the details provided by you. The cause of your one sided headache could be migraine which is quite common in females. On the other hand, there could be development of an undetected bleeding and that could cause the swellings you mention.
As a matter of fact, ibuprofen increases the tendency of bleeding and hence I would suggest you to stop taking it. However, you need to be examined clinically before the cause of your ailments can be made out and I strongly suggest that you visit a doctor immediately.
