What Causes Oozing From The Incision Site After An ORIF Surgery?
Question: Hi, my 88 year old mom fell, fractured her ankle and underwent ORIF surgery and her incision site has been oozing. Should we cover it with a dressing or leave it open to air?
Brief Answer:
Needs dressing.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The oozing from the incision site is worrisome. It needs to be dressed properly to avoid any infection in the area. Proper broad spectrum antibiotics are also needed to prevent the infection. Do get the wound dressed up. Do not leave it open to air.
I hope this answers your query.
