What Causes Open Sore On Buttocks?

Question: I have an open sore on my butt. It itchs a lot and hurts only sometimes, (sitting or lying down). There is a bit of puss. I have gotten the same before. Any idea what it is?

Brief Answer: Its folliculitis with surrounding cellulitis Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Dear Sir, Thank you very much for providing clinical photograph. The lesion is of fungal infection with folliculitis and surrounding cellulitis. I would suggest you the following which will definitely help 1. Hot Seitz bath: Add lukewarm water to a medium sized tub. Add handful of common table salt in it. Sit in it immersing your bottom 15-20 minutes each session thrice a day. 2. Clean and dry the area: Apply following ointment Candid B ( Clotrimazole + Betamethasone ) and T Bact ( Mupirocin ) ointment thrice a day 3. Oral antibiotic : Augementin Duo ( Amoxicillin + Clavullinic acid) 1 gm twice a day for 5 days 3. Antihistaminic like Cetrizine or Hydroxyzine will be effective for relieving itching 4. Hi. Thank you for your response. Can you tell me where I possibly get this fungal infection? This is not the first time I have gotten this. It has happened several times, maybe once in a year, but has happened a couple of times(3-4), over the past 9 years.
