What Causes Osteoarthritic Changes In Right Knee?
Question: I need to consult physician on osteoarthriatic Changes in right knee of female patient above 60 yrs

The X-ray suggests that the knee joint has undergone osteoarthritic changes. These are basically age related degenerative changes in the weight bearing joints like knee and is characterized by joint pain and stiffness. Upon movement the stiffness gradually relives. Sometimes application of hot pads can make the movement possible.
The treatment options include pain killers, hot fomentation, lubricating agents like glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin , dycerin, etc and some life style modifications and physiotherapy.
Right now you can start taking Tablet Tylenol ( Acetaminophen) Double Strength after breakfast and after dinner. It is suggested to add calcium supplements 500mg each twice daily. This will take care of the mild symptoms in 3-5 days.
You can start with walking and aerobic fitness exercises, quadriceps strengthening, patellar tapping, lateral heel wedges, etc- under the guidance of your physiotherapist.
A Big No to Stair case, squatting postures, any chair which has a sitting platform lower than your knees.
Knee brace can also be used for an earlier and prolonged relief.
In severe cases intra articular injections of steroids and hyaluronic acid may be needed after consultation with your orthopaedician.

About pain killer tablet -Acetaminophen 3.25 mg & Tramadol Hydrochloride 37.5 mg with trade name Acuvin is available in the XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Market. The patient has started taking it after dinner and after breakfast.
On lubricating agents: tablet having glucosamine sulfate, Potasium Chloride 500mg chondroitin Sulphate Sodium 400 mg , with trade name FreeFlex Forte two times daily after meals have been given.
Now questions 1) Is the tablet available alright and if so, how long it should be taken?
2) Is the tablet require precede administering pentoprazole etc.?
3) Is FreeFlex Forte alright and if so, how long it should be continued?
4) Is there any need to monitor any side effect on heart etc., if so, what is the process to monitor?
