What Causes Pain Above Knee During Exertion?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015
Question: My 6 year old is complaining that his leg hurts right above his knee. First it was in the back and now the front. It only hurts when he runs or jumps (not when he walks). It started a few days ago at the end of gym class but he doesn't remember falling. Could this be a pulled muscle?

Brief Answer:
Yes, most probably a stretched muscle.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

It is most probably a pulled or overstretched muscle.

Unless there is not any swelling, then there's no need to worry much more than necessary.

Few days rest, warm procedures on the affected area and light massage should help improve symptoms.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
