What Causes Pain Above The Waist?
Question: Hi there,
I seem to have pulled a muscle or something. I can only think that as a result of lifting I have hurt something in my right side. Just above the waist and exactly on the side there is pain, especially when I tried to turn on that side to sleep.. Do we have a muscle there?
Brief Answer:
Possibility of tendon sprain
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms
There are no muscles at that site but there are tendons at that site. Extensor tendons on the dorsal side and flexor tendons on Palmar side. It's likely that you have sustained sprain of tendons. If there is no deformity of the wrist there is no cause for concern.
I would advise you the following
1. Hot water fomentation
2. Analgesic and anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen will provide the much needed relief.
3. Resting the wrist in collar and sling will be helpful.
In case you require any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take care
