What Causes Pain And Bleeding From Vagina After A Hysterectomy?

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Jun 2014
Question: I thought I was suffering from hemorrhoids for the past 4 days. Today it felt like it was in my vagina. It was very painful. Then there was a gush and was light brown from my vagina then bright red. I am still bleeding a little and a little sore but the pain is gone. I have had a hysterectomy. What could this be? At first it did seem like hemorrhoids.

Brief Answer:
Could be from the vault.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

If you have had the hysterectomy very recently, then the bleeding is likely to be coming from the vault; sometimes a hematoma is formed at the vault and is painful until discharged. So, in the current scenario, I would ask you to see a specialist and get a proper appraisal of the situation as you should not be bleeding.

A sonogram of the pelvis, blood counts and urinalysis are also needed. Any infection in the pelvis should be treated aptly.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
