What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation In Elbow After Physical Activity?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jul 2015
Question: I was moving some 50# bags about 24 days ago now. Since then I have had burning and pain in my elbow area. I am concerned that it is something other than just tendinitis or something like that. It is not a broken or fractured bone. The pain moves (which is odd) sometimes it is above my elbow in the bicep area (burning) or below in the top of the forearm. it hurts to pick up anything with my palm down. I can hold things with my palm up...no problem. I am weak on that arm, can't make a tight fist. Can you please help?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Nerve related cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain and burning sensation with a decrease in strength is likely to be due to a nerve related cause. Tendonitis or nerve compression at the elbow can also cause such symptoms. Doing a hot compress in the area and taking mild anti inflammatory medicines can help. You can also add methylcobalamin supplements.
It is best to consult a neurologist or an orthopedician for a proper examination and stronger prescription medicines if the symptoms are persistent.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Pressure on the nerve.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Nerve compression means pressure on the nerve fibers due to inflammation and swelling around the nerve sheath that covers the nerve. It can be associated with tendonitis. This causes weakness and burning in the area supplied by the nerve.
