What Causes Pain And Burning Urination?
Question: What can I expect when they take the stent out, or, remove the stent. How long and how much pain. Urethra is sore and burns when I urinate. This has been a very painful ordeal, Dr. I believe it is the stent causing the pain, even after 10 days beyond time of procedure. Urinating is very painful and although emptied, kidneys hurt after urination. Like I need to urinate again.
Brief Answer:
Pain and burning is due to irritation due to stent.

Removing a stent is minor procedure done under local topical anaesthesia as a out patient procedure. You will have burning urination for first 2-3 attempts after removing stent.
The pain in kidney area is due to reverse flow of urine through the stent which will also go away after removing stent.
