Detailed Answer:
Hi Ekwiared,
Thank you for the query under health care magic virtual clinic.
I have read your query. It's always better to be careful of any physical problem .. specially in advancing age. I understand your concern.
* The pain in left hip region you have can be from multiple causes like-
- Some local soft tissue inflammation/ infection,
- Trauma to the part,
- muscular pain -- due to over use stress/ calcium deficiency,
- Involvement of hip joint- arthritis ( inflammation )/ involvement of
tendons, ligaments around the joint/ degeneration of cartilages in the hip
joint causing friction
-Involvement of bones- injury/ weakness ( osteoporosis)due to calcium ,
vitamin D deficiency..
- Neurological cause-
- vertebral & disc problems causing compression on nerve supplying to the
hip
- local compression of femoral nerve at sciatic foramen
* IT becomes important to analyze the health & achieve specific reason in beginning only ( specially at the age ) .. before starting medicines. This helps in early & full control & also prevents complications at older age.
In this context, I would advise to consult your family doctor to start with. He will have a through physical check up, get few basic investigations done ( Blood calcium/ vitamin D,Rheumatic factor, X ray hip & spine ) and come to primary diagnosis. He may start treatment himself or refer you to specialist( physician/Orthopedic surgeon/ spinal surgeon) for further management.
- The specialists in turn would get you further investigated ( CT scan/ MRI as per need )& advise you specific treatment for the condition found.
- Treatment would be in form of medicines ( anti inflammatory, pain medicines ( NSAID), Calcium/ vitamin D/ Vitamin B12 supplements, Local or oral steroids/ physiotherapy, / surgery - depending on the specific cause.
* self care- It consists of rest / cold pack as per need ,medication as per doctors advise till the pain is controlled.
- Mild exercise ( yoga/ walking along with healthy lifestyle & calcium supplements to prevent future pain.
Please don't worry it will go with treatment & wont bother you much if properly investigated & specifically treated at this stage itself.
I hope the answer was helpful & useful to you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Request for grading the answer before you close the query.. in case you find it useful.
Thanks.
