What Causes Pain And Problem Swallowing?

Question: I have a problem of swallow parotid gland time to time. It causes severe pain. The pain comes from just under my left ear. Can anyone suggest what could be the issue?

As per your clinical history it appears that you are having chronic recurrent parotitis .
If I were your treating doctor, I would advice you
Antiseptic chlorhexidine Mouth Wash twice daily to maintain oral hygiene ,
Plenty of fluids for hydration ,
anti inflammatory analgesic Paracetemol + Ibuprofen combination after meal for pain & swelling and
Macrolide Antibiotic azithromycin for infection .

Investigation needed Complete blood count & USG parotid area .

Here my suggestion is that you should consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination, necessary investigations and treatment.

I forgot to mention, I get the pain if I take alcohol. 4 times out of 5 when I take alcohol, I get the pain. Does that match the symptom as you suggested?

Alcohol will stimulates production of saliva from parotid glands & if its duct is partially obstructed due to inflammation or dilatation or stones , it become swollen & cause pain .

Complete blood count & USG of parotid area will confirm the diagnosis .

You will get symptomatic relief with above mention medication .
