What Causes Pain And Weakness In Shoulder?
Question: I have shoulder pain and weakness. Im not sure if the pain is because I hurt my shoulder with activity but since its my dominant arm, have been assuming I did something to cause it. I was also recently diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis that may be causing the shoulder pain and weakness. The doctor characterized the stenosis as significant (7 mm) but wants to see if we cam avoid surgery. He sad if the stenosis was at 5mm he would have referred me to a neurosurgeon.
To my concern, There is a portion of my arm with a small bruise with a small hard knot under the skin (shoulder area next to bicep). I dont remember bruising it but probably hit it when lugging a heavy carseat around, hittimg up against a wall pr something similar. The knot hurtts, doesnt move and apears to be over/attached to muscle.
Should I be concerned that the knot is serious. I have read that hematomas can be hard and painful. Is that likely what it is or should I be concerned its cancer?
What may it be?

Brief Answer:
Cancerous growth not likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The knot on the shoulder is likely to be due to an injury- a fibrosis of hematoma in the area. This is not a worrisome issue. The knot will gradually resolve with hot compress as the color returns back to normal.
Not likely to be a cancerous growth.
I hope this answers your query.

Thanks for quick response. When i press on it fhe pain radiates throughout my shoulder. Is that an indication that its the source of my shouldet pain? Does that fact further support that its not likely to be cancer even though the knot doesnt move? Right now the knot is very small. I wouldnt even say its the size of a pea .
Brief Answer:
Can cause the shoulder pain.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The pain on pressing is more suggestive of injury and inflammation rather than cancer. It can be the cause of your shoulder pain. The knot will resolve on its own.
Hope my answer is helpful.

I just went to the doctor. She felt the muscle where the lump is located but didnt feel any knots or lunps. She even had the nurse feel. I can still feel it but also know I cam feel from both muscle and my finger perspectove )make aense?). Should this give me even more comfort that this lump somewhere between the size of a bb and a pea is not concerning or could she just have missed it? I assume a true lump must be detectable by them
Sorry for the redundancy in my questioning. ?
Sorry for the redundancy in my questioning. ?
Brief Answer:
An insignificant lump likely.
Detailed Answer:
An actual lump would have been detected by them. A lump of less than 2 cm in size that is not actively growing in size is not significant. IT will disappear on its own. An actual or significant lump would have been easily detected by them.
