What Causes Pain Around Waist When Suffering From Shingles?
Thank you, XXXX

Increase dose of Gabapentin / details about the mass please ...
Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam.
Thanks for your query.
I can understand the pains post-Shingles are really troublesome and the dose of Gabapentin may have to increased to give you sufficient pain-relief under consultation of your Doctor.
also you can apply any jelly like Xylocaine or so, somehow it helps locally, may be psychologically, but helps my many of the patients.
About the mass :
Is the mass at the same area which was affected by Shingles ?
Is this just a swelling or a well-circumscribed mass ?
What is the color of the skin above the mass / any redness / pain on pressure ?
Size must be quite large as per the description you have given. Can you see the mass or just feel it ? If it can be seen , please post a photograph of the mass, may help us.
If a mass is developing over just 2 weeks to cover such an area, it may possibly be due to Edema or so / can be a diffuse lipoma which got detected now.
Please provide further detailed information for me to judge more.
You may please get this checked by a Surgeon to have a proper diagnosis and may also undergo high resolution ultrasonography to see what the problem may be. ..
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis and proper further management for the pains and the mass.
May be edema.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your feedback.
Mass in the same area of redness, without skin discoloration, in the area you explained can be most probably due to edema of the subcutaneous tissues. Since the sensory area of the affected nerve looses its normal physiology, there can be development of the reactionary edema easily.
To get a confirmed diagnosis, you may please show this to your Doctor, who on palpation can tell the exact diagnosis and treat you accordingly.
This may be self-limiting or needing a few medications like anti-inflammatory medicines and oral steroids as per the findings.
High resolution ultrasonography can add to the clinical / physical examination diagnosis.
