Question: When I lie down my catheter does not drain as well as when I am sitting in a chair. I am awoken by a pain at the tip of my penis. The only way I can get relief is to sit in achair and bend over the cstheter until it starts to drain. Is this normal for o Foley catheter.

Brief Answer:
Make sure there are no kinks in the catheter.

Detailed Answer:
Good day and thank you for being with healthcare magic!

A Foley catheter should work and drain your urine properly regardless of position.

Things you can do. make sure they're are no kinks in the tubes both the catheter and the drainage bag.

The drainage bag should always be lower than your body at all times so gravity would help with the drainage of urine.

Your catheter might need replacement if the above suggestions doesn't work.

I hope I have answered your question satisfactorily.
