What Causes Pain Behind Neck And Head?
Question: Hi Doctor,
I am asking this question on behalf of my mom. From past 10 days she is facing a problem which is like she feels pain from back of her neck to back of her head.
I took her to a physician. He said that it can be cervical spondylosis. He has also given some medicines which my mom is taking from last few days but she hasnt found much relief. Infact today her neck stiffness has increased and she is not able to roatate her face from neck.
Can you please suggest me which specialized doctor should I visit. Also the severity or seriousness or problem of this. I just wish it isn't something big. Also, what test are needed to ensure its cervical spondylosis and how severe it is.

Do not be worried. Cervical spondylitis is very common problem in old age and it needs physiotherapy and some precautions. I would recommend you to get MRI of the spine.This will confirm the diagnosis. Orthopaedic doctor can suggest you this. After that according to severity she will receive following treatment.
1. Intermittent cervical traction exercises.
2.Tablet myospaz or Myoril for muscle soreness.
3.Tablet Pregabalin M for neck pain and nerve compression.
4. Avoid keeping neck in same position for long time.
