default
Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016
Question: I am experiencing pain from under my breastbone and wraps around to my back. It is continual pain. I have not taken any OTC. I have a few Tramadol 50 mg. in my medicine cabinet. Could this help the pain until I can get in to see my doctor? Your advice is appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Tramadol will surely help

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.

From the symptoms it feels that the pain may be due to gastritis or intercostal nerve inflammation.
In both these cases, the pain is typically located below the breast bone and radiates towards the back.

Taking tramadol will surely help but i would suggest you to take antacids with it as well.

Local gel,hot fomentation and deep breathing exercises will help if the pain is severe.

Let me know what your doctor says once he examines you.

I do not think there is much to worry about.

Get back to me for any further doubts that you may have.

I hope the answer was useful.

Kind regards.
