Question: I have had a pain, not severe, just uncomfortable, in my right side between my rib and hip bone, for about 5 days. It is not constant. I only have very small bowl movements once a day or sometimes twice. Seems to bother me more as the day goes on

Brief Answer: Detailed below. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. Such symptoms can be present with many different conditions. Considering your age (over 50), large intestine issue should be ruled out at first. Its because over the age of 50 the risk of colon cancer significantly rises. Therefore every person over 50 should have colonoscopy every 10 year when there is no symptoms, and colonoscopy in any time if the symptoms are present. If your pain radiates to the back and is associated with foods intake, gallstones can be the reason. Please consult your doctor. Start with abdominal ultrasound, blood work, urine analysis and get scheduled for colonoscopy. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
