Brief Answer:
Elderly onset SLE and statin induced myopathy should be excluded

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Lupus anticoagulants (LA) are various substances (antibodies) produced by the immune cells in the body against the phospholipids – a component of cell membranes. LA antibodies mostly found in normal elderly people during laboratory tests. These antibodies may attack and damage normal cells in the body. Rarely it may cause increased blood clotting in the vessels (recurrrent thrombosis) or recurrent fetal lost in pregnant woman but most patients have no presenting symptoms. The exact etiology of LA is unknown. It has also association with other systemic autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), or certain medications may be associated with LA.
Your symmetric joint pain may be from SLE. The disorder in elderly is rare and presents with joint and muscle pain, weight loss, fatigue and weakness. Among medications crestor may also cause joint and muscle pains. Therefore, these two conditions should be excluded. Please, consult with your doctor regarding elderly onset SLE and statin indused myopathy.
