What Causes Pain In Fingers And Toes Along With Rash On Thigh?
Question: Hello! I have been having issues over the past few weeks. I attended hot yoga a few weeks ago and developed a rash on my thigh. They said it was contact dermatitis but it didnt fully go away. I started experiencing some pains in my toes and fingers....it developed into full blown muscle aches and joint pain. I went back to the dermatologist who did bloodwork on me including a CBC and lupus tests all of which cane back normal. In the meantime a doctor from urgent care gave me a medrol dose pack that i finished a few days ago now. Joint and musxle pain is still fhere but not as strong. I feel it in my wrists, knees, ankles...rhen i get throbby pain/muscle cramps in my one thigh and even my one arm aches. Wven my hip bones and near my tail bone aches intermittenly from time to time. I got really concerned yesterday bc i deceloped two raised up reddish spots on my chin/nexk fhat resemble bug bites but arent itchy or amything. I went back to the doctor who sent me for another cbc, a mono test, RA factor, etx. I havent had a change in appetifte or change in weight or anyrhing. Im starting to get really worried that i have leukemia or some sort of rare cancer like neuroblastoma or bone marrow/blood cancer or something. I am really worried. I have attached copy of keg rash which is fading and neck spots. No bswelling in joints just intermittent pain and crampy pain in muscles intermittently. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Brief Answer:
few more blood test for diagnosis,anti-allergics,pain meds
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Your work up with doctors hasn't shown any finding to account for numerous aches and pains, rashes
All that appears is some allergy.
I would suggest serum ANA, immunoglobin tests as well if your doctor agrees.
It's certainly not leukemia or any cancer as CBC has not shown anything
I would advise for fexofenadine tab(allegra) and dolo-neurobion for now if your doctor agrees which shall check pains and rashes till you get tests result to diagnose further by your doctor.

Im just worried about why he is doing a repeat CBC. He is not the doctor that ordered the original one, that was a dermatologist. I have attaches a pic of spots on neck. The resemble red, raises bug bites but do not hurt or itch. I stopped taking medrol dose pack on monday or tuesday so i dont know if that wouls have done anything. Im still having joint pain and random pain in my thigh and musclesnintermittently. As i said earlier im afraid i have some horrible disease or some form of cancer as no one can seem to figure this out. Beyond the spots on my nexk which i dont think are lumps really (but not sure) the only thinf that is raised is a very terny lump in the back of my nexk. However, that always shows up when i am sick and goes baxk down. It is not hard, if you didnt know it was there you would miss it. Anyway, the joint pain and muscle aches coupled with the rashes is pretty scary.
Brief Answer:
wait for tests result, trust treating doctor
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query
It is necessary to repeat CBC as the blood picture varies with time and may reveal if anything wrong with the counts as you are so much worried over leukemia, if repeat CBC is normal then this gets ruled out altogether.
The picture attached is similar to atopic dermatitis or to herpes simplex- a viral condition, although a dermatologist is best to interpret it.Either way it isn't dangerous looking or life threatening.Fexofenadine (allegra) may be taken if dermatologist agrees-it may help a lot
ANA,immunoglobin tests may rule out auto-immune phenomena/allergy states
Bodyache and joint pains can occur with any minor disease state also in absence of auto-immune/allergy.Take dolo-neurobion in consultation with your doctor
As one of the doctors have pointed out, it is worth asessing for psoriatric arthritis too by a rheumatologist
Do not be scared you will be alright-just patience with investigations is necessary.
I would add amitryptaline 10 mg if your doctor agrees you may get tremendous relief with this
Trust your doctor.

this is a closer pic of raised spots on neck. As i said they do not itch or hurt. Im glad you think its most likely nothing serious. I am worried because i am still having joint pain and muscle aches...especially in hands. I am hoping my repeat CBC comes back normal. I know you cant say for sure what is going on but the joint pain, rash on my neck scare me. I was sick last week as was my husband and mother in law but i am the only one experienxing all this ans some of the joint pain and aches started before then. As i said, i am worried that i have some form or cancer or something as this is not going away and no one seems to be able to figure it out.
Brief Answer:
developing positive attitude to overcome fears
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Once the investigations complete we may get to know that joint pains are manageable with dolo-neurobion or whichever your doctor prescribes-as suggested earlier-an rheumatologist would be a choice to consult
Fear of cancer is because often a patient sees a worst side-to be precise when pessimism is clouding the personality-he or she sees glass as half full always-if one looks to other side when so many tests and doctors have negated cancer-we shall be seeing glass only half empty-and that should be an optimism always to fight any situation.negative thinking delays healing of even simple diseases as scientists have proved-It is a doctors job to look for differential diagnosis-if we start overthinking on his behalf we shall imagine wrong and worst possibilities which are never there
I can understand your concern-but leave more for doctors to decide.Amitryptaline shall help you in all ways -remove fears and relax you and also sort aches and pains.Pains aggravate on stress and tension-so calm and patience I see is required here
Best wishes

Thanks for your answer! I will definitely try to stay positive. Joint pain is still there on and off in my hands but isnt as intense as it was earlier in the week. I have still have those two raised spots on my chin/neck. They do look like they have a spot in the middle but i do not recall being bitten and as i said they do not hurt or itch. I am still worried that i have some blood related cancer or something although i am sure that that is unlikely. Im worried bc no one seems to be able to come up with anything quite yet. My arms and legs are more achey tonight...my shins and forearms along with fingers. Anyway, i have attached a photo of leg rash along with more recent spots on my chin/neck.

good that you sound more positive
if you remain unwavering with self faith-pain in shins and legs would also lessen.I know of a case I read somewhere, in an article that a girl got hives on whole body as she watched a horror film in a theatre! All doctors were perplexed for a long time.when she got over them in few days she happened to go for another horror movie as it was her interest, and this time too she developed hives.Doctors concluded even mental conditions-fright,scare,emotions can bring on may allergy like symptoms. There are no known medical explanations yet.
since your rash are asymptomatic , do not worry, maybe it will remit on its own or as I advised earlier fexofenadine (allegra) may be a choice if your dermatologist agrees. probably not yet prescribed as you dont itch.
Wait for your CBC reports, platelets count will also be helpful to co-relate your symptoms.don 't let blood cancer worry become 'cancerous' to your mind -if it is overworrying fact and you are consciously aware of compulsive thinking, I may suggest you may seek help of a psychological counseler also which will help you overcome fears
I may suggest-have faith in your doctors in what they say as they are examining you and know more accurately the presenting symtoms, physical signs
Consider a rheumatologist for work up on multiple joint pains
Best wishes

Hello there! CBC test came back normal and i tested negative for Mono. they did not get the RA test results back yet. I still have achiness in my joints and arms and shins that come and go. Also, not sure if it is related or not but i have soreness right next to/near my left breast...sore to touch and if even sore when i bend over. I am reassured that the biggest tests came back normal but i am still worried something is wrong with my bones or neurologically or something just bc ive never had these symptoms before.

Hi there! All bloodwork came back normal. My joint pain comes and goes but isnt like what it was and isnt as bad or frequent. However, i am still experiencing a muscle cramp that comes and goes in the upper, inside thigh of my right leg. Im not sure this has to do with the rash i had on my leg or if its not related. The muscle cramp is just worrying me that it is a blood clot or some muscular/neurological issue. Thanks again!
Brief Answer:
mostly neurological
Detailed Answer:
hi
Normal blood work means nothing to worry about further.
Muscle cramps off and on in thighs may subside also in few days. Cramps may not be related to rash that you have on outer aspect of outer thigh while cramp you say is in inner aspect.
However a neurological assessment (electro-physiological nerve mapping) may remove doubts.
