Question: my husband had hip surgery (repair) on XXXXXXX 29/15, was doing very well walking with a cane all during March
and on March 24/15 was coming up the stairs, his cane slipped and fell one step. Went to Tillsonburg Hospital for Xray and CT Scan. Neither showed a new fracture. He seems to be haaving problems in the Groin area-pain and soreness so that when he attempts to get in bed he lifts his pant leg to pick left leg up.
He does apply an ice bottle wrapped in a towel 2 or 3 times daily. Shuld he try and contact the Surgeon

Brief Answer:
Yes,you should contact with his surgeon to evaluate changes at surgery site

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your husband and understood your concerns.

I am sorry for the accident he had. If it happened on March 24/15, then, usually, ice is applied within the first 48 hours.

It is great that Xray and CT-scan did not show any new fracture although the pain he is having.

He has had hip surgery on January this year; and the accident he had was on March, too early after surgery. That's why he is still having pain in the groin-area.

To my opinion, you should contact his surgeon although no new fractures were noted to see what has happened at the site of previous surgery.

You can give him analgesic cream to apply locally and give oral analgesic for the pain.

Wish fast recovery!
