What Causes Pain In Head And Coughing Up Of Greenish Phlegm Post Unprotected Sex?

Question: Hello please help . XXXXXXX sat 24th 2015 I had stupidly had unprotected sex with a man if an unknown status . I am a 27 yr old female . I have been seeing him for a little and I like him , but put my guard down and messed up. I asked him about his status and recent testing. He keeps saying he's okay and I'm paranoid . I'm worried because exactly one week after the 24 th I became very sick . My head hurt , my ears were tight going in and out, my neck felt extremely hot, had a cough with lots if phlegm that turned green as the days went on , and constantly runny nose. Now on Friday January 31 which is a week after my possible exposure I went with 2 friend to ny to celebrate them getting into pharmacy school. That night was very cold and we took the train and walked alot. The next day (Sunday) I woke up sick and have had this cold for a week now . Today is February sat the 7th and I'm still sick . My phlegm is green , my ears constantly pop, and I constantly feel cold then really hot. Yesterday Friday feb 6 th which is 13 days after possible exposure I went to get a hiv rna test done at a lab. I believe the results come back in a week. I'm very scared. Please tell me what I should do from here, in the mean time I also got azithromycin from my other doctor to see if it will help. What should I do ? I'm scared to wait 3 months to test again.
Brief Answer:
P24 capture assay will help.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.
I understand your query and concern.
Your symptoms possibly suggest a bacterial infection of the upper respiratory tract.
But the possibility of viral infection cannot be completely ruled out.
In order to have quick rule out of HIV infection I advise you to have an P24 antigen capture assay, which can be positive as early as 24 hrs of exposure.
Hence Its extremely important to get this test along with Hbsag(for hepatitis B) to rule out these potentially dangerous viral infections.
Meanwhile you can continue Azithromycin.
Post your further query if any.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Services are available at Palisades Medical Center.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.
I understand your concern.
The usual sequence of testing for HIV is Rapid P24 assay--->ELISA----->HIV nucleic acid testing HIV 1 and 2.
But still direct HIV rna testing(within 13 days of exposure-its NOT too early) also seems logical but the test results are delayed.
You can avail P24 assay rapid testing at
Palisades Medical Center Foundation,
7600 River Road.
North Bergen,07047.
Phone-201 854 5000.
Thank you.
