Brief Answer:
Anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

You might be suffering from patellar tendinitis or chondromalacia patellae, which causes pain in your knee when you climb up and down steps. This type of knee pain related to overuse or physical activity.

* The following measures will help in resolving your problem-
* Keep your body weight at an optimum level
* Avoid extreme position of knee flexion as in sitting cross legged on the floor
* Active quadriceps exercises , which usually resolves more than 40% of anterior knee pain problems
* You can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation.
* Take calcium and vit D supplementation.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
