Posted on Wed, 23 Mar 2016
Question: Hi Doctor!
Greetings for the day.
I would like to know your opinion on a problem with my left leg which i have been facing for a long time. My left leg very frequently hurts as if i have cramps. It happens when i sit in a position where my knees are above waist level. Its very painful and it takes around 10 minutes to come to normal state. Whenever i do any stretching exercises, my left leg feels more stiff as compared to right and left leg is more vulnerable to fatigue and pain after long walks.
Kindly help me, the situation is degrading.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Can be due to inadequate leg exercise.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the left leg on stretching is likely to be due to muscle cramps that are aggravated by stretching of the legs. This can be related to a high muscle tone, vitamin D3 deficiency or decreased muscle strength.
It is best to start with a hot compress and gradual and regular stretching exercises of the legs under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
For symptomatic relief you can get an oral muscle relaxant prescribed from your physician.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
