What Causes Pain In Lower Groin Area?

Question: I am a 68 year old woman in basically good health. I have been experiencing lower groin pain much of today. I took an antacid around noon & about 5:00. Still hurts. No diarrhea.

With the symptoms you have described there are a couple of things that come to mind. One possibility is that this might represent a bladder infection. If you're having any urinary symptoms including increased urinary frequency or urgency this might be something to talk about with your doctor.

Another consideration would be some type of infection within the intestines or colon. This is oftenaccompanied by fevers and sometimes chills.

Another possibility is that this could be a hernia. This would require a physical examination to diagnose with certainty.

I would have to say that if your symptoms do not improve within the next 24 hours that you would certainly benefit from a focused consultation with physical examination by your doctor or a licensed physician in your area.

if your symptoms become severe I would recommend that you report to your local emergency department for more immediate evaluation.
