Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014
Question: I am 51 year old woman. Before one month I had absolutely no problem in my legs .I used to walk 2,3 km. daily morning & evening. On 26 april 2014 I found pain in my left leg below the knee. The pain was increasing & after one week I found that it was very tough to walk even 4-5 meters.A doctor suggested to use some kind of spray & take pain killers but I found them not very useful. What may be the reason.

Brief Answer:
I think you are having pinch nerve in spine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and it looks to me that you are having Lumbar canal stenosis. In this disease there is pinching of nerve in spine and because of which patient can not walk for long distance. When he walks, nerves get compressed and then patient complain of pain in leg. When patient take rest, swelling of nerves decreased and pain get relieved.

I would advice your MRI of spine. On the basis of which I can decide whether you will need surgery or medicines. Along with MRI scan, your doctors should also check peripheral pulses.

Till you get your MRI, Pregabalin and Methylcobal tablet can be helpful. Discuss with your local doctor. Send me your MRI report. I will try my best to help you.

Thanks and take care.
