What Causes Pain In Penis While Urinating?

for the last week my tip of penis hurts while urinating, hurts only the lat 2 seconds of urinating.
Not even hurt. i would say it feels different.
Also a few weeks ago at my yearly doctor visit my urine came back with a trace of blood.
they asked me to redo the urine test and it came back negative - no blood.
this week i went back to the doctor since i had this problem and they took a urine test again and it came back again a tiny bit with a trace of blood. and they said it might be that i have polyomavirus. they said not certain but shouldn't be excluded,
i will see a uroligist in 2 days was just wondering to hear from you guys as well ):
Would appreciate your input
Thanks
Blood (miscroscopic) in urine is not normal, so should be evaluated further
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your query and understand the concern.
From the facts you have shred here, you are having microscopic haematuria (microscopic blood in urine) which can be found actually in multiple conditions like,
Urinary tract infection (acute kidney or bladder infection) or Stones in kidney/bladder.
Apart from urinary tract infection,I will also think about the possibility of genital infection too.So, urethral swab testing should also be done to rule out genital infection.
However, they are perfectly curable with help of appropriate antibiotic if the infection found during testing and So there is nothing to be freaked out.
Or very rarely tumor in kidney, ureter, bladder may also cause this but I will not think about this right now.
Therefore,if I were your treating doctor then I will advice you to do complete work to find out where/what is the cause of trace blood in urine and to rule out the causes one by one.
Your doctor may ask for following investigations.
i) Complete hemogram, kidney function tests and Urine culture and routine Microscopic (to see if any infection is there).
ii) Ultrasound of both kidneys and pelvic area to rule out any stone or tumor.
iii) Cystoscopy (endoscopy of urinary bladder) can be reserved in case all the above investigations come inconclusive.
Please also mentioned to your doctor during your urologist in next 2 days whether you are taking any pain killers or multi-vitamin supplements recently or since a long time as they may also cause same.
So,until we find the cause of blood in urine nothing much can be said, but usually it's a benign condition and subsides when the cause will also be cured.
It's better to be concerned always but not to worry.
Meanwhile, ensure to drink more water to keep your urine dilute which will help to control hematuria.
Hope this will help you and let me know if you need more help.
Regards,
Dr.Sandip Kabra
